Social and Educational Services

Social-educational services are based on the approach of non-formal education. This approach to extracurricular and after-school programs and student engagement stems from a specific educational philosophy characterized by an approach that focuses on the students. Whether on an individual or group basis, the goal is to build a conscious and open educational relationship and to create non-formal learning situations that draw on the methods of socio-educational facilitation used in youth work.

The Social and Educational Services Department at Lycée Josy Barthel bases its programs on this approach.

This includes organizing extracurricular and after-school activities, where students have the opportunity to express themselves freely and acquire new skills. Supporting student participation (the student council) is also an integral part of our work. We also focus on student motivation and, at the request of the student, their parents, or the class council, provide support in learning as well as in discovering and developing their own individual learning methods.

We provide students with a space where they can discover and develop their social and personal skills—either individually or in a group—during the learning process. We also circulate throughout the classroom to check in with students who need a moment for reflection. Our activities take place in the afternoon.

The Eis team consists of educators—both graduates and certified professionals—who are all dedicated full-time to the students and the entire school community.
