Here are the 2nd-grade classes at ScienteensLab

Published on July 16, 2024

To wrap up the year, all of our 2C and 2G classes visited the ScienteensLab. Students were able to choose one of three workshops: solar cells, computer science, or cryptography.
In the solar workshop, they learned how a PN junction works and how different LED diodes have varying forward voltages. Then everyone built their own solar cell and measured current and voltage to determine its performance. The efficiency of solar cells in relation to temperature was examined.
In the “Computer Science” workshop, our students learned how artificial intelligence works, how it is structured, and how it can be trained. They created simple, everyday examples themselves to demonstrate how one can program artificial intelligence within a small framework. Additionally, they tried out a range of various applications in the field of “Artificial Intelligence” and generated their own images.
In the cryptography workshop, the students first got an overview of the history of cryptography. Then they moved on to the mathematical foundation, Euclidean division. Without this operation, modern cryptography would be unthinkable. Then, our students delved into various theorems and the RAS cipher, a very common encryption method today. Finally, they encrypted a message themselves using this method and decrypted a message from another group.
Overall, our students learned a lot of new things and had a great time together with their teachers.
